Breast Reconstruction

Patient 1. This is a 49-year-old woman with right breast cancer who had requested bilateral mastectomy. I asked her general surgeon to perform the mastectomies using a breast lift pattern. Latissimus dorsi flaps and tissue expanders were placed at the time of the first stage reconstruction. After four months, the expanders were exchanged for 600 cc silicone gel implants. The nipple reconstructions were performed with earlobe grafts followed by tattooing. She is slightly larger than her preoperative appearance with improved shape and upper pole fullness. These photos are taken at one year and I expect the vertical incision at 6 o'clock to heal almost imperceptibly in an additional one to two years. Procedures performed: Breast Reconstruction

Breast Reconstruction

Patient 2. This is a 31-year old woman with a right breast cancer. She was highly motivated toward bilateral mastectomy. Bilateral skin sparing mastectomy was carried out along with latissimus dorsi flaps and tissue expanders. The expanders were eventually replaced for permanent silicone gel implants 400 cc each. Nipple reconstructions were performed with earlobe grafts followed by tattooing. She is slightly larger than her preoperative breast size with improved shape and fullness. Procedures performed: Breast Reconstruction

Breast Reconstruction

Patient 6. This patient is a 39-year-old, 115 pound, 5'2" female who had undergone bilateral prophylactic mastectomy due to the fact she was BRCA-1+ and having a very strong family history of breast cancer. The procedure was a two staged breast reconstruction with initial bilateral nipple, areola, and skin-sparing mastectomy with insertion of tissue expanders. The tissue expanders were then exchanged for Mentor smooth, round, high-profile 425 cc silicone implants. Photos were taken after six months. Procedures performed: Breast Reconstruction

Patient 7. This patient is a 41-year-old, 178 pound, 5'6" female who was interested in delayed bilateral breast reconstruction. Her condition was complicated by severe radiation damage of the chest wall skin. The procedure was a two staged breast reconstruction with initial bilateral latissimus dorsi flap reconstruction with insertion of tissue expanders. The expanders were then exchanged for a Mentor smooth, round, moderate plus profile 325 cc silicone implant. Photos were taken at one year. Procedures performed: Breast Reconstruction

Breast Reconstruction, Breast Implants

Patient 9. This is a 41 year old who presented with a history of breast cancer. The two biopsy incisions necessitated removal of a large piece of skin by the general surgeon. The procedure performed was a bilateral Latissimus Dorsi reconstruction with placement of bilateral tissue expanders. A large piece of skin forming a patch was utilized on the right side. After expansion was complete the expanders were removed and permanent 550cc smooth round moderate plus profile Mentor silicone implants were placed. She then completed the breast reconstruction with bilateral nipple reconstruction and areola tattooing. Procedures performed: Breast Reconstruction, Breast Implants.
